It’s Perfect!

For that moment in time, all of the requirements for that thing” fits. I happened to catch that I used perfect” multiple times (quite accidentally) when writing about soulmates and I laughed at the realization and kept them in anyway.

Like the perfect nap may look different if you are having a week getaway on the island at your friends’ Airbnb (and there happens to be a waterfall where you sneak over the barriers, lie beside the water as it cascades over the edge and fall asleep) vs if you have a few hours one afternoon (and you have access to a shrouded treefort with a comfy hammock where you can snuggle up in it, pretend you are with someone and fall asleep and have sweet dreams).

The perfect coffee may differ based on sleep, attitude, craving, and comfort levels (but never with cream unless it’s alcoholic or an espresso con panna, but that’s not really a coffee, is it?!?, and never a dark roast).

The perfect date with differ if you’re by yourself or it’s the first one or if it’s your 221st one.

The perfect hug will always reach me to my core and never feel like a limp handshake.

The perfect kiss will be when the universe both expands beyond infinity to hold that space and shrinks to shut everything out other than the singular moment when our lips touch and send sparkle energy shooting through our entire bodies.

The perfect hike challenges, uplifts, inspires, releases, and connects. It never criticizes or condemns.

The perfect sweater may be warm, or cool, or baggy, or snug fitting, but never irritates or scratches or smells.

The perfect colour compliments her eyes and the tint of her hair.

The perfect drink may be that double Long Island or that ice cold lager that I down in one tilt. Ok. Ok. Who am I kidding on this one - the answer will ALWAYS be the Long Island.

The perfect book may have a killer or lover or friend or guide or magician or paladin or circus or reflect the sweet rhythms of life, depending on my day.

The perfect poem may push or pull, twirl or rest, excite or calm, twist or straighten, inspire or placate. It all depends on who has most recently spoken to me and where my heart is.

The perfect afternoon may be dancing on the top of a mountain, lying down beside a puppy, or wrapping my arms around her, nestled up in a blanket beside the roaring fireplace, drinking hot cocoa and laughing about that thing she said as she puts her arm around me and we allow our souls to mingle as we exhale.

The perfect movie. Come-on. COME-ON! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

The perfect question is one where it unlocks feelings, thoughts, and conversation that creates moments.

Time. Place. Situation. Energy. Capacity. Company. Feeling. Safety.

So many things to consider which is why so many different AND same things can all be perfect at once.
